WORKSHOP
In our workshop, we service
all types of outdoor power equipment. The aim of our workshop is to have your
unit back to you in the shortest possible time. The worst case scenario for us
is that we have the machine for a week - depending on what spare parts are
required for the unit, of course. We have 4 staff members, with a wide range
of experience in small motor repairs. Our Workshop Foreman is Lee Byrnes. He
has been in the workshop with Browns Mowers and Chainsaws for 15 years now.
This experience is priceless. With so much knowledge, Lee can sort out that
problem unit and offer some simple advice on ways to maintain your equipment.
All staff receive constant technical training from our suppliers, so that they
can keep up to date with the latest changes in technology.
The workshop is located at
the rear of our premises. There is plenty of car parking space, as well as a
loading bay to make unloading ride on mowers so much easier. As part of our
service, we clean all mowers and ride on mowers with a high pressure cleaner.
FUEL ISSUES
At Browns Mowers and
Chainsaws, we have seen an increasing amount of fuel related problems with
equipment over the last 2 years. Much of this can be traced back to the new
'brews' of fuel that are available. It is now more important than ever, that
the fuel that is used in your equipment, is no longer than 4 weeks old. Why
only 4 weeks? This is because when the fuel and oil mix together, they react.
This has an effect on the octane rating of the fuel - which decreases. If the
octane rating gets too low, it can make your unit hard to start and run rough
when using it. Using a Premium Unleaded Petrol will not necessarily fix the
problem either. Due to the additives in this type of fuel, it could possibly
dissolve the oil content in the mixture. Fuels that have a high content of
methanol or ethanol in them, will contain extra oxygen - which could cause the
engine to run at a leaner air-fuel ratio. These fuels are more likely to
absorb water, which when mixed with oil and fuel, could lead to separation and
no lubrication of the engine. By using normal Unleaded Petrol, the fuel and
oil will separate also, so each time you pick your fuel can up - give it a
really good shake. Never use fuel past 4 weeks old, because if its gone stale
and separation has occurred, the likely outcome will be in the hundreds of
dollars, as the unit will have seized due to a lack of lubrication.
